Engine Troubles Hold McLeod Back In Speilberg

The final race of the 2014 Red Bull Air Races season was a mix of highs and lows for Pete McLeod. Coming off his first win in Las Vegas, Pete was hoping for big showing in Spielberg, Austria. "Training went extremely well", said McLeod, "we took some penalties but our times were super fast we had a great chance to win". But, on race day those fast times vanished. Pete made it into the Super Eight by edging out Matthias Dolderer after the German was penalized 2 seconds.

In the Super Eight Pete's times continued to slip leaving him on the sidelines heading into the Final Four with an eight place finish. Following the race, PMR technicians compression tested the engine and discovered a low compression indication in cylinder six, resulting in reduced horsepower. "It's not the way I wanted to end my season, but that is racing. We had a great year with few mechanical problems, and today the odds caught up with us".

The final race of the season was won by Frenchman Nicolas Ivanoff. Great Britian’s Nigel Lamb secured the championship with a second place finish, and Czech pilot Martin Sonka rounded out the podium in third.
